Here’s a song trying to sound like the early Beatles

I'm the Only One

119:Guitar 12-String Acoustic, Strumming EV
4233:Guitar, Electric Rhythm
1515:Guitar, Electric Soloist
4226:Bass, Electric Soul70sRelaxed
RealDrums=Soul70sRelaxed
RealDrums=TambourineSteady8ths
- Native Instruments Electric Vintage in solo and a few other bits
- All vocals sung by me, processed with RVC to sound somewhat like the Beatles
- Pretty much three-part harmony throughout
- Mixed in Studio One, Reverb EastWest Spaces 2, Mastering Izotope Ozone.

When are you going to see that
I’m the one who loves you
And when are you going to see that
I’m always thinking of you
I’m the only one, I’m the only one

When are you going to see that
I’m the one who cares for you
And when are you going to see that
I’d go anywhere for you
I’m the only one, I’m the only one

And if I promise to forever be faithful
Tell me would you promise to forever be too
Would you come out, would you give in?
Would you give out what you get in?
Yeah!

When are you going to see that
I can’t live without you
And when are you going to see that
I always think about you
I’m the only one, I’m the only one

(Solo)

I’m the only one, I’m the only one

And if I promise to forever be faithful
Tell me would you promise to forever be too
Would you come out, would you give in?
Would you give out what you get in?
Yeah!

When are you going to see that
I’m the one who loves you
And when are you going to see that
I’m always thinking of you
I’m the only one, I’m the only one
I’m the only one, I’m the only one
I’m the only one, I’m the only one
(fade out)

I just got off the phone with Paul, he says he wants his voice back!

I think you captured the general feel of the Beatles very well, regardless of the fact that you copied their voice.
Good job!

Tom,
1st impressions..it sounds "wrong" in stereo.
The seeming jump as the vocal "splits" to wide panned like at 2.01 sounds a bit abrupt for a pop song and more so for a Beatlesque track.
Occasionally the lead guitar sounds just a little too country but otherwise nice tidy package.
Mix it in mono!

Cheers

It's definitely got that early Beatles vibe, so well done!

As rayc noted, having a wide vocal sound seems un-Beatlesy - their vocal is usually bright and centered, where you've got a warm harmony spread across the speakers.

Nice bit of pop! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Definitely captures the power pop of early Beatles. Always daunting to take on the big guys...

Ha! I like Ray's comment that it sounds wrong in stereo. It maybe wrong in that it's longer than 2 and a hlaf minutes. No one can say that this isn't a fabulous song. It sounds like one of those songs they wrote for Billy J Kramer. Outstanding harmomy, Tom. I played The Beatles with 2 guys for 6 decades, and this one is so good. And I'm not the only one.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thomas,

Nice! Super Cool vocals and harmonies.
I got more of a Beatles mixed with The Buckinghams vibe.

Catchy.

Reproduced that sounds/feel well...
