An old song, circa 2002. Just a simple tune. Cannot remember which tracks were used, but it's mostly synths.

Don't Tell Me It's Over

©2002 Robert Randall Burke

I don't ever want to have
To say “goodbye”
I don't ever want to have to make you cry
I don't ever want to have to
Break your heart
Or hear you say
“It's fallin' apart”

Don't tell me it's over
Don't tell me it's over
Tell me some pretty lies
Don't tell me it's over.

All the little things
You say and do
A thousand times a day
I fall in love with you
Now you say that you don't feel the same
And there's no one to blame.

Don't tell me it's over
Don't tell me it's over
Tell me some pretty lies
Don't tell me it's over.

Gave you my heart
Don't break it
Without you
I just can't make it
I knew we were
Destined from the start.

Thanks for listening!

Regards,

Bob

Nice song Bob, really enjoyed the vocals.

My only small comment is that the Kick punched through the mix a little.

Overall, really well performed.

Hi Bob, how's things?

This is stunningly good.

A super smooth backing track with your usual emotive vocal delivery.

How did you get Roy Orbison to do the harmony?

Must listen again...

ROG.

Yep, this is really great, Bob. That Orbison comment is too true! Love the quarter note ride cymbal in the chorus, very effective at keeping the whole thing feeling cohesive and gives it a nice push-pull feel.

I really enjoyed this Bob. The chord progression is cool, and the vocals simply first class. The chorus is very strong and catchy. All round an excellent song!

I like all your stuff, Bob... REALLY dig this one!

This is "hit radio writing" from the good ol' days (everyone is reminding me of 1972 lately).

Gary Puckett and the Union Gap would have taken this to #1 - for weeks in a row... and woulda made you rich... (or The Righteous Brothers!)

Perfect production for it. And excellent vocals!!!

Groovy, man....

A really beautiful, sophisticated composition Bob.

Extremely well done. Excellent lyrics throughout.

This is may be my favorite "composition" of yours. Structurally, it reminds me early Lennon, Beatles era.

Bob, Really great vocals. The harmony was superb. The melody is outstanding and the simple write was just enough. Another great one! Tom

Robert,

This is a beautiful 80/90s kind of ballad. Especially the backing vocals on the choruses work great.

Very, very nice Bob!! I heard a little retro in this-Everly brothers or something. I like the sweet, melodic melancholy sound. Great vocals, sweet harmonies. Very much enjoyed!! Take care. Greg

Wow! This incorporates every good thing you can say about vocals. And the production was perfecto.

"Tell me some pretty lies"

What a cool line!

It's really fascinating how many different artists folks have heard in this song. The hallmark of a great tune when you can draw that out!

We're looking forward to more listens on our SC playlist...

Rob,

It is an old song, and a poor recording, but I didn't think I could do the vocals any better now - so it is what it is. grin

Thanks for the listen and kind remarks.

Bob,

I'm coming to the party late on this one but I'm glad I gave your song a listen.
I particularly love the vocal sound and harmonies.
There's definitely some Orbison going on there.

Overall a great job!

Thanks for sharing,
Jez
