This came from a cowrite when a lyric writer posted online and offered anyone to use his lyrics. I liked what I saw and thought it might make an interesting project with some revisions. I edited and rewrote some of the verse and chorus, and the bridge... I obviously wanted to leave as much of the original writing intact.

It's called JESUS MY BROTHER

The Band:

Bass 1523
Drums P&W
Guitars 1526 & 1529
Solaria is on vocals

That's pretty much it.

Let me know what you think in your comments.

Thanks for listening.

Herb...really nice P&W offering...Solaria is AI...right? you did a superior job with this project...of coarse I love the subject matter and the tempo and energy...I love cowrites when the lyricist gives you complete freedom to edit the material and use your gifts to add your inspiration to theirs...I really enjoyed this...PtL!

Hi Herb ...

I've enjoyed every co-write I've been a part of - a dozen or so. This is exceptional. You've developed an excellent - and always improving - use of AI voices.

The soundstage works quite nicely - everything is balanced. I particularly enjoyed the cymbals. I like them EQ'ed slightly high to get the true "ring/crash" yet not being a distraction to the rest of the sound. An excellent P&W song. It's fairly contemporary, with a solid drive without being overpowering. Just enough in all the right places.

That was a real nice listen!

Alan

The song works for me.

The only bit that stuck out was the phrasing on "Jesus my best friend" - I wanted to hear a pitch change on one of the syllables of "Jesus". But I guess if that's what I want, I should write my own song. wink

Nicely done.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Good write! Lyrics are fine, and I really enjoy the music. Excellent work with the AI, too. Good band and a pleasing mix. Much enjoyed, Herb.

You are correct.

Turns out, and I didn't know this.... I just grabbed the lyrics as offered in a facebook christian writer's group ... but the writer is from Australia. He said take it and do what you want. As it turned out, he liked the results.

Thanks for listening.

Sometimes I surprise myself. Getting the notes inputted for the vocal is always the challenging part because singers don't sing like I want to play. The drums are using the CLA waves plug in for drums. I'm becoming quite impressed with those plugs. I think I used them on the drums and the vox. Everything else was mostly straight out of BB with no other processing at the track level.

Thanks

Thanks Dave. This was actually a quick and dirty mix. Throw it in the pot, stir and serve. Thanks. Sometimes things just work out right.

After the fact there's always things you listen and say, yeah, I should have done this or that..... no lead guitar parts? Heresy I tell you..... No harmony either...What was I thinking.... oh yeah...lazy. ( I really need to be working on something else...this one is done, move on!!) Lots of things....

Thanks for listening

Sometimes you just gotta set back and say, hey I like it and that's all there is to it.

Thanks for taking the time to listen

Hi Herb,

You amazed me, not only with this nice song, or making use of AI, but also what you wrote about in what mood you made this song.
You wrote "Sometimes you just gotta set back and say, hey I like it and that's all there is to it."

Although that could be the case, but I think your feelings must be inside the song itself.
A song is more than something technical.
You have to have special feelings for it, I think. And that makes it what it is.

Anyway, I loved the song very much, the vocals and the rhythm. On one occasion I had hoped Solaria would have yelled out her love for Jesus. Somewhere towards the end of the song. She did not. Well, that's a choice...

Hans

Herb,

You have really done the co-writer proud on this! It's a top-level sounding P&W song! The mix of the BIAB sounds and that AI voice is astoundingly good! Such a clean vibrant sound!

I've been around here long enough to be very familiar with your vocals and I must say I feel you could have sung this, and it would have sounded excellent also!

Take care, TB

This sounds like it would fit right in during P&W church service. Great band, although we did miss a guitar solo from you. smile

Solaria sounds better and better (might slow the vibrato a bit) but there’d be more Soul if you were singing it!

A nice display of synth vocals, BiaB and Guitarhacker talent.

Well done!

Herb, this is an outstanding Christian song.
Great work with that synth voice.
Super lyrics and mix.

Loved it.
