Hello forum friends. Thanks so much for all of the nice comments on Far Too Far!! I just don't get here often enough to respond, but I read and appreciate all of the nice things said.......means a great deal to me! I've always loved Christmas, and Christmas songs. I've posted several here over the years, but here is a link to one you haven't heard. There is a Christmas album with this one as well as those, and one or two others. I linked the previously unposted song but the others are there if you have any interest. All of them are quite traditional old school songs. This one is one that I would have loved to hear Frank sing. I think if I had to choose between the songs of Nat and Frank versus all other Christmas songs, I would choose the former....so much magic in their voices!! Merry Xmas, and hope you enjoy. Love to hear from you! Take care. Greg

Hold on to Christmas

It sometimes seems, that all your dreams
Haven’t bloomed and never will
And the summer sun is gone to soon
Given way to autumn chill
But there’s no heart that can’t be warmed
By the smile of young girls and boys
And the season is the reason for their joy

Hold on to Christmas
See through the eyes of a child
Cherish each moment and every embrace
Let your dreams run wild
Hold tight to that feeling
Be joyful in all that you do
Set your heart free and soon you will see
That Christmas lives in you

At Christmas time, we all try to find
Some magic if we can
And reflect upon a child of God
Who forgave the sins of man
To feel the warmth of folk and friend
And be thankful for His birth
A time to stop and pray for peace on earth

Hold on to Christmas
Find joy in just being alive
Smile for the sake of spreading so love
Let your good true spirt thrive
Don’t be afraid to wonder
If one day your dreams can come true
Set yourself free and soon you will
Christmas lives in you

Smooth and easy perfection. Lyrically, vocally.. the whole package.

Sure, Frank could have sung it... but not like you! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Wow Greg, this is quite different than the others I heard you do before - and what a great job. Really liked the production on this. The way you worked that bass through there was fantastic. Good write too, but I think what made it shine the most was your vocal. Man, that was goooood. Evverything was clear and smooth, and gosh the way you hit some of those higher notes - I'm jealous!

This was right up my alley. An upright bass, brushes on the snare, and Greg Johnson's voice are a match made in heaven. Really beautiful music. Happy holidays to all!

Franks was a terrific vocalist, but no way he would have done this as well. A Greg Johnson Christmas album? Gotta have it. Found it on Amazon. Proud owner. Merry Christmas, Greg.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Greg
You don't really need that much for a great song
You prove that very impressively herewith
But the little you need for a good song must also be really good
And it is with you in any case !
Excellent song
Wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a healthy happy new year 2023
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

I agree.

You don't need Frank as your vocal here is outstanding

You best to date IMHO

Loved it.

I totally agree with David and I might add that this is one of your best vocal performances I've heard!

Shades of Luther Vandross in here. Beautiful, beautiful song, sung with that marvellous crooner voice of yours. A real treat. Thank you - and HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you!

Man that is as smooth as can be. What a great vocal. Super melody and the the way you hit some of those high notes is astounding. Good lyric and arrangement help to make this a new Christmas classic, Tom

Gentle and smooth Christmas jazz, I can feel the warmth of a fireplace and the seasonal spirit in every note of the band and in the silky voice. Heartfelt lyrics full of love, hope and wonder. Everything is mixed very well, especially the vocals.
