Hi Folks,
Sorry if my participation was sparse. Ukraine's tragedy has a severe emotional impact on me. Just a bit hard at this time to think musically. Please understand and forgive me if I missed your songs. I am trying to catch up.
This is not a protest song, more of a grief expression for all life lost for no good reason, and all the suffering that one "man", if that is the right word for this creature, had caused to millions of people. The short clip from song that was used at the end is probably known to every child born before 1985 in USSR. It is a song about people longing for "peace"... Thank you for giving this time.
Misha.

Bad Dream

Was it just a dream? Pain had left,
while he laid on a soft bed of snow.
Grazing at the passing clouds
with his dead eyes...

Something that mother felt,
way before the doorbell rang
Can't stop tremor in her hands, day turned black
A girl in a hallway asked:
-When daddy is coming back?

Rockets splitting sky in half,
flying dust, whistling lead..
they say:
"fish starts to rot from it's head"

basic translation:
The darkness will retreat, shadows melt
Be strong, Odessa, be strong Irpen
mute pain, blood rebels, but still whispers: Faith, Hope Love

This is not a pigeon of "peace" in the sky...
People are begging for water and bread...
Descendants will spit on your grave...
Fish starting to rot from it's head.

Tech stuff:
I want to mention one particular Kontakt library that I used which I discovered when it was suggested on the forum (Thank you Mario) called "Slavic Vocals."
It is a quality plugin, which you can get at great price and from their site: "all net income from this library goes to support humanitarian crisis in Ukraine."

Howdy RS....

Another fine one.
Haunting, captivating and in your special melodic vox style.
I like it.

(I hear you on the other comments and empathize with your personal grief)

Well done....

Wow. That is a masterpiece. So well done - lyrically, musically, and production. Bravo! I'm sorry it had to be written under these circumstances though.

Powerfully dynamic.

I keep going back for another listen.

Fitting and timely, and tragically important.

Hi Misha.

Wow!

This is incredibly powerful listening. I love the song, your singing and the production.

What is happening in the Ukraine is the stuff of nightmares. I have also been incredibly inspired by the Ukrainian people. What they have accomplished is way beyond heroism. Ordinary people have done some truly extraordinary things.

I seriously hope that things settle down soon and that Putin is held accountable.

Thinking of you and your family and wishing you well.

Second listen to concentrate on the backing rewards close attention, I like the way you create the sound bed for your vocal. The juxtaposition of kids and guns at the end was a bit too unsubtle for me, though.

Very good song Misha
Expresses the current situation very well
The struggle seems hopeless but still Ukrainians believe in themselves and their country.
There will be an AFTER. But how will it looks like?
I just can't believe it...
Great that you wrote this song.
We may not be able to achieve much with our music but we will be heard...
Thank you Misha
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Music expresses so many different emotions and together with the painful lyrics this is very powerful musical experience that touches deep. Sadness in the vocals. Fittingly chaotic arrangement, great selection of instruments, Slavic Vocals work very well.

A very impressing song, Misha!
And the end was horrifying in it's composition.

Like a lot this war is worrying me a lot. Of course I've donated money for the people of Ukrain and I'm also very proud how they damaged the Russian army and kill their generals. But on the other hand I think of all those brave poor people in Marioepol and Kiev and whatever cities.

But about the song: It's not a 'nice' song, but that wasn't your goal. The rhythm is very good, the instruments well chosen and your vocals were nice dark and a bit helpless. I can see why Mark Hayes finds the end a bit over the top, but for me the singing children and the machine gun underlines the absurdity of the real situation. If only we could do more...

Good, but sad song,
Hans

Misha,
powerfully sad, powerfully evocative.
You're a master at expressing grief.

This song was absolutely amazing. It reflects the current situation perfectly.

An outstanding but I'll bet a very hard song to produce

Impressive opening. I like the way the competing sounds interweave. Structurally interesting, vocals echoing like a nightmare.

I thought the contrast of the children at the end juxtaposed with the sounds of war was exactly as over the top as called for in the title.

As others have said - powerful.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Man, right from the start this one grabs me. I always like the way you sing, but in this one there is so much to drown you out. Yet your message is crystal clear. Excellent choice using that closing song. Damn, i hate the sound of bombs, but there is no sweeter sound than kids singing for peace. Thank you, Misha.

Enjoy whatever happens!
