https://soundcloud.com/planobilly/pawn-shopJuse two tracks. True story, names change to protect the guilty. A "short dog" refers to the smallest sized bottle (375ml) of MD 20/20 fortified wine (aka Mad Dog). Can be referred to as a body style of a cadillac, usually the late 80's early 90's Cadillac Billy

Nice.
Delta blues style.
Gin in the morning ..... gin in the afternoon.
Enjoyed the tune.
Once upon a time, our band hired a keyboard player who was drinking Southern Comfort at 9am every day. He didn't last very long.
Loved the lyrics.

Merry Christmas Billy. I sure liked the simplicity of the guitar in this one. The vocals were hard for me to understand at times, but I liked a lot of the lines I could make out. The ending was very clever. All the it sound good as is, I think it's one of those tunes that would sound good with some accompaniment as well. Just a nice old time blues feel to it.

Hi Brad, Thanks. The vocals could be a little hard to understand. I tried to sing this with the same accent/dialect I have listened to in the southern USA. Many original musicians who created this more or less Delta Blues sort of thing had their own dialect.
Thanks Herb. This was just a live sort of recording with zero engineering. Mostly the sort of thing I would have done from time to time in years past. I only ever had one run in with Southern Comfort. Perhaps a story for Herbfest.
And finally, "Mr. Project M." Thanks, Andi for the kind words. By the way, what is the significance of Route 68 where you live?
Happy holidays to all of you.
Billy

Piano Billy—
Like the feel of this one a lot. That guitar is killer—great playing. From a production standpoint, the vocal could maybe sit in the mix a tad more, IMHO, but it’s a terrific blues song regardless. Good stuff!
All my best to you,
Deej

As simple as the arrangement is, it has groove. Lots of groove, I must say.
Really fun to listen to. A lot of fun!

A nice reminder of how much Buddy Holly borrowed from the blues. This sounds "authentic" though the twin guitars do suggest modernity. I like where the vocal sits and how it sounds.

Thanks to all of you.
Thank you, Deej, for taking the time to listen and comment.
Hi Brian, I get lost every time I go look at your videos. You do super artistic stuff. Thanks for listening to my simple stuff.
Hi rayc,
I think "authentic" pretty much defines what I try to make happen with the blues. Sometimes it comes naturally, and sometimes, I don't hit the mark I aim for. I have tried to absorb all this blues culture I have been privileged to be a part of. Thanks for listening.
Billy
