"No More" was the first song I created when I took the Ryan Tedder Music Production/ Songwriting course.

No More on SoundCloud
No More SoundCloud Link

YouTube link fo "No More" https://youtu.be/pEGEm-J-90g

It started with the guitar riff ( not from Band in a Box) you hear in the intro and chorus (basically creating a vibe to adlib vocals too)

I was following the course and Ryan's methods, so I had no idea what was next.

The guitar riff seemed busy, and not much room for vocal melodies. The first thing that popped out of my head was no more, so that was the chorus repeated four times( a very short hook).

Then I had to make the verses and arrange the song, so I took that guitar riff out, played the chords, and adlibbed some mumbling lyrics/ melody.

There is more to the process, but this post is getting long. LOL

After the class, it took me some time to finish the lyrics, get a vocalist, and then mix the vocals tracks.

I also just started using Band in the box at the time of working on this song.

Although I forget what the file names are for the parts, I used The drums, bass, and guitars from Band in a Box to finish the production. I play the guitar riff in the intro and in chorus added some percussion and a little synth part you here in the verses.

The whole Song was produced in Logic Pro with other various instruments and plug-ins

I also have a few other versions of the song with different breakdown sections and some with a completely different music track.

Any feedback is welcome.
Is there any artist this reminds you of?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

I have been away from the forum for a bit and almost missed this one! This track sounds super! The mix is excellent! The vocalist is definitely pro all the way! It's got kind of a Sheryl Crow vibe going on! Welcome to this great forum!

Thanks, Torrey

Thanks for listening and your feedback.

Another friend of mine said it sounds like Sheryl Crow as well so that's pretty cool.

I'll be posting more soon and I'll check out your music too.

Thanks,
Greg

Definite Crow sound, but original too. Good mix.

The vocalist sounds like a million modern women vocalists...breathy, whiny, quite processed in the verses but better in the choruses and the overdubbed parts.
The song - well it's mainly a guitar riff & a vocal hook repeated ad infinitum...the "verse" was a relief even though the vocals were over processed.
In terms of current pop it works really well. Just make sure Rick Beato doesn't get near it.

Cheers

Hi Greg,

Good song with some nice hooks and good vocals.

Maybe could do with an instrumental solo in the middle for a bit of light and shade - easy to add with all the great BIAB soloists.

Best Regards
Nigel

Thanks,

I was going to have a guitar solo at the end but I chopped up her vocals and made that the ending. Thanks for the feedback.

Greg,
I enjoyed the simplicity and polish of this- the vocalist has the attitude and phrasing you`d expect from the style ( nice effects on her voice at the close). Its catchy too.
I agree a guitar break would work, though maybe that`s old school thinking!

Well done.

Robert

Ok, so I do rock myself, and I think this is awesome-sounding rock. The vocals are sexy and killer.

Every to love, and nothing NOT to love.

You could force a Sheryl Crow comparison, I guess, but to me it sounded original and fresh. Very engaging and fun to listen to. If there were other tracks on a playlist I would listen to more. I don't understand why there would be any criticisms of this vocalist at all. She is fun. This is what people like to listen to.

Great job man.

Nice way to introduce yourself to the family.

This is well executed. As others have said.... Excellent job. We've had a lot of really talented new people coming in recently and that's so good. It raises the bar for everyone and we have to up our game. Looking forward to more from you in the future.

One tip.... When you reply to someone's comments, please include their name so we know who you're responding to. "Thanks" is kinda cryptic.
