Hello all

Here is a fun song that was co-written with Liz Petty as part of 50 90.

Lucky Lucky Me on Youtube

I think this one is going to be great to perform live so I cant wait to practice it enough so it is ready. I think the kids'll love it....

Lyrics:

I had me a hamster
Penelope
she was brown and white
chatted all day to me
I assumed she was lonely
so I got her some friends
two pigmy goats
called Mary and Ted

Had two crazy goats
blatted all the night long
It soon grew quite tiresome
with their lonely song

so I got a dwarf donkey
black cross on his back
He started to bray
And So I got Jack

Now I have a
menagerie
all because of
Penelope
Now I have a
menagerie
lucky lucky me

Jack was a gray emu
he'd run really fast
one day he ran far
when we found him at last
in Farmers John's pasture
he'd befriended a cow
we brought them both home
and made room somehow

The cow liked to watch birds
so I got him a hen
The hen got a porcupine
to keep fox out of her pen
then a large gray armadillo
who wasn't afraid of quills
then a lama, six young ducks
one day I looked around ...
and thought oh no.... what the.....
luck....

Now I have a
menagerie
all because of
Penelope
Now I have a
menagerie
lucky lucky me

Good work on this, Joanne smile I agree, I think the kids will fall in love with this tune! It's wonderfully catchy, and easy to follow and sing along to. Amazing on the arrangement too - and your vocals are on point!

Thanks so much for sharing!

My dear Ms. Cooper...

Well, here's one big ol' "kid" that loves your lovely song, "Lucky, Lucky Me"! smile

I'd love to teach this cheery, charming and humorous musical tale to a classroom full of children. In fact, listening to it made me wish I was back in kindergarten and thrusting eager my hand in the air to be picked by the teacher who's asking her students, "Which one of you would like to make a goat sound? Anyone know what an emu sounds like? Who can bray like a donkey?"

Recently I learned what one of the many definitions of the word "innocence" is: having no knowledge of evil. Isn't that just the most beautiful and desirable thing to contemplate?

"Lucky, Lucky Me" is that kind of song. If I had a daughter, or a son, or both, when I picked them up from school, I'd love to have them run into my arms and hear them exclaim to me in voices breathless with excitement, "Daddy! Daddy! Wanna hear the song our teacher taught us today?!"

LOREN

P.S. Your singing voice reminds me of Julie Andrews.

Nicely done, Joanne. Well sung, good mix.

Could see this being a part of a whole children's CD. Or even turned into a book - with accompanying music...

Thank you Josie. Nice to hear from you. I think some adults will love this one ...especially the line "what the luck...". I am hoping to get it practiced enough to start performing it live at our local folk club.

What the luck? WTL? That was a great line!

It's all been said! What you have is a great kids song, super vocal, great backing tracks with super lyrics and a zoo.

I can see this one on Sesame Street! (I hope you get that TV show over there)

Great fun song!

Excellent one. Everything goes well. All in one: your vocal and music in the background
Super video.

Surely I'll show it to my grandson Leonardo (2 years old) as soon as he will come to my home.
