Walk Away

I couldn't get the rhythm I wanted from the guitars on BIAB for this song: Having the chord changes on the off beats doesn't sound too good using the push function in BIAB, so I used Virtual Guitarist for the main guitars. I'm not too pleased with the vocal and will have to rerecord it when I have the time. I borrowed lyrical bits for the bridge from the Book of Isiah.

Band:
RealDrums-RockModernSync
RT3730 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm GrungeChugging (chorus)
RT1255 Bass, Electric, PopShining
Virtual Guitarist Iron
Virtual Guitarist Sparkle
Synth - Me

Lyrics:

I’m hearing too many voices
You are leaving me no choice
You think you’re not wrong

Please don’t talk
You’ve got nothing to say
Take a walk
Just walk away

Why won’t you open up your hand
What makes you the promised land
Who loosed your tongue

Please don’t talk
You’ve got nothing to say
Take a walk
Just walk away

When bad is good and good is bad,
There's no deliverance
When dark is light and light is dark,
The loss of innocence
The watchmen are blind
You’re a peddler of ignorance

I see through your lack of logic
You thrive on all that’s tragic
Don’t try to plague my brain

Please don’t talk
You’ve got nothing to say
Take a walk
Just walk away

The music reminds me of Lou Reed. The vocals remind me of David Bowie. The lyrics remind me a little of both (mostly Bowie). I'd say you hit your mark (even though you don't think you did). I like the vocals just fine.

Yeah the riff is vaguely Velvet Underground/Lou Reed.
Melodically/tonally it's more Iggy from his Berlin era than David but cool either way.
I enjoyed it.

Sweet Jane! even the same key. Of course, they can't copyright a chord progression and groove, so it's fine. You must have been listening to Bowie because man you are sure nailing that DB vocal vibe. The doubled vox make it spot on.

Personally I don't think there's any need to record the vox again. I think you nailed it on this track.

I really enjoyed this song.

Nice!

A terrific Pop-Rock sound/rhythm. Nice use of the guitar vst.
Good balance with the drums (and bass). Nice mix.

Well done. Keep talkin'!!

jpt...Thank you. I must admit, I haven't listened much to either one of them.

Guitarhacker, I really haven't heard much Bowie, except for the usual like Major Tom and China Girl. What song are you thinking of that is the same key and groove? I'd like to listen to it. Thanks for the positive feedback.

E.S.,
Edgy & punky tune. Lots of energy and pretty cool sounding guitar. Vocals... I do not know why you would want to re-take them. I think they sound great. Unexpected and fun synth. Thank you for sharing.

Vocal is fine...dang good, actually. Love the rhythm and drive of this. The lyrics certainly have that anger and angst and I think it mostly carries over in all the above.

If I had a crit, it would be the mix. To me it's too subdued for a Rock song. I might have preferred to hear those L/R guitars quite a bit more crunchy and up front and the overall "sound" more in yer face. But it's your song and it should always be presented as you want to hear it. Maybe I should shut up and walk away. smile

Very much enjoyed.

Ezekiel:

Love that mix—those alternating electric guitars panned wide left and right talking back to each other . . . just outstanding. Great choices on the rhythm of those guitars too—good choice to go with Virtual Guitarist because it delivers perfectly on this tune. The vocal sounds solid to me—shades of Bowie, certainly. I’m sure I’m sold on the synth—I don’t think you need it and struck me as a bit distracting—but that’s a subjective thing (though I do like the idea and melody of those riffs—just might opt for a warmer sound). Killer tune—loved it!

My very best to you,

Deej

Sounds good to me, those VG guitars are especially impressive and I like the way you panned them. Vocal also is fine.

Wasn't mad about that little synth line to be honest, but that's a minor quibble.

Good song, lots of energy!

Excellent song! Very catchy rock groove, especially the VG riffing. Strong lyrics with critical rock attitude.
All the guitars sound great and that synth bell is lovely.
I'm very pleased with your vocals, wish I had such a rock tone.

Terrific chorus and bridge, I loved it! I felt the prosody of the verse was a little off, but Lou Reed was that way, too. Great vox! Top work!

I don't think Isiah will mind you borrowing some of his stuff.

It's got a good rock vibe and your vocals are reminiscent of David Bowie.

well done.

Indeed.

We are in agreement with the Bowie and Reed references.

Your vocal well delivers a clever and evocative write.

We saw NO reason to return to the vocal. It's strong and soulful.

The mix really sounds excellent on the monitors and sets up an impressive soundstage.
The VG guitars worked well ... cool choice.

Enjoyed it!

Tangmo, I too want the guitar, especially the one on the left, to have more bite.
