Hello, forum friends

A remixed version of the Beatles’“Revolver” was recently released.
According to the music article, each instrument, voice, etc. are separated from the previous recordings using AI into independent tracks and remixed.
The same is possible with Steinberg's SpectraLayers now. (but not perfect)
This time, I used the SpectraLayers to extract only vocals from past recording and added a new accompaniment.
It's basically an early 60's 12/8 feel rock-a-ballad.
But I added a little modern touch.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics:

You are my very important person
You always protect me
And gently embrace me with your loving arms

What can I do for you
You always hide wounds and sorrows deep in your heart

You always pose as a strong man,
You never show me your painful face
But just being protected makes me sad and painful

You don't have to show only good things
Please behave like a baby sometimes
I want to give you a lot of affection

I don't mind your sighing when you're having a hard time
When you're tired
Please put your head on my shoulders
And sleep by my side

I want to make myself feel at ease
And also want to make you feel at ease
I want to hug you softly from me
I love you even your weakness

Great song and you've really captured the vibe rock ballad genre. Excellent write, arrangement, performance and production.

I really like this! laugh

The vocal is great, and the arrangement fits perfectly!

The only complaint I've got is the 5th bar of the sax solo, which sounds really disconnected from the first part.

Other than that... smooth and excellent!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Good lord, Shigeki. You are so good at this stuff. Again your string arrangement is so so good. I often hear strings in songs and ask why bother, but yours are so compelling. You should put out an all-strings album.

Ok. That was my reaction to my first listen. The second started the same. (Are you a fan of Vivaldi, The Red Priest?) Natsuki sounds so good, and I listened twice without even reading the English translation. She has a great expressive voice. I see you changed the bass and added the sax to the GAIA.STY. Excellent choices.

Enjoy whatever happens!

This is a pretty good arrangement and sounds really good.
I haven't found the original, so I can't judge if it's more modern or not, but I like it.
Good job!

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I heard this like an outtake Olivia Newton-John might have sung from Grease. Loved the string intro and throughout the piece. Lyrics were very, very good. Terrific work as usual.

Nice melancholy pop melody in the 60's style. I really like the lyrics, romantic and touching.
The vocalist has nice voice full of emotion.
Excellent work with the strings, so smooth and nice transitions. My only suggestion is that the sax could be introduced and mixed little softer.
SpectraLayers seems like an interesting product...around 2:33 I hear some artifact in the vocal track, is that already in the original recording or due the SpectraLayers processing?

Hi Shigeki ...

Your music is always such a pleasure to listen to. Everything you post is alwa such a great production.

Di (my wife) and I love the music of the 60s and this is very representative of the era. Natsuki sounds wonderful! You surround yourself with excellent musicians and vocalists.

I initially thought of Cannie Cato's song "You Belong To Me" from the early 60s.

Excellent!

Alan

David,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you like this tune, Natsuki's vocal and my arrangement.

I also think that the sax solo you pointed out is unnatural.
I reworked the solo generation many times, but I was not satisfied with the result.
I am very sorry that I had no choice but to compromise.

I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

Marty,

Yes, I like Vivaldi.
I love classical music in general, but I especially love baroque music.
I listen to Bach, etc. on a daily basis.

You really are an excellent bassist, because you can immediately notice the changes of Bass in GAIA.STY.

I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.
