Yes, I use your work (very) often, and I take this opportunity to thank you, but this is a way of bypassing the plugin, even though we paid for it with everything else.
I don't think I have such a special configuration that the plugin only bugs with me. When fast generation arrived on the Reaper plugin, I only used that. Now Biab 25 is also almost as fast as the V6 plugin, so the plugin will probably be dropped.

The plugin in Reaper has this exceptional feature that it does not take time to generate wavs, this is for me the main advantage. Saves space and saves time. But when it does not want to, it does not want to. I'm surprised it was released in this non-functional state, but I feel like I'm the only one having this problem, so I'll do without it until a fix is available.

So does anyone have a Plan B workaround for MoultiPass and Ray?
If I did I would share.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I don't know why they don't have just the Plugin Installer for download rather than the massive 500 MB package.

Because the updated plugin always requires the updated version of BIAB, and because it would otherwise be a waste of server storage for the 0.2% of users who want an incomplete installer.

.

It's amusing how we're sweating over saving 100MB on the servers when we're pushing nearly 1TB of FLAC downloads this year. Talk about a factor of 10,000! wink

For me the absolute best feature I used of version 7 of the plugin (and in general BiaB 2025) is THIS

That's it for me, these posts got deleted like so many other posts. I tried my best but I'm going now, if it's a fair thing what they have done then good things will come their way, if not let's see what happens with the future of PG. All I know is that when I leave this world to God I have done the right thing.

LOL I wish I could get a refund on all the man hours I put into it year in year out frown

This is what I used to do, record, mix, make up tracks with BB/RB then create videos for artist that went on CMT but there were too many issues with BB/RB so I had to go full time trying to make them modern and professional since 2009.
I don't think I'll be getting back to that, in this lifetime anyway.

Pgm response so far seems to be: "You don't need that."

It will happen one day, imo, a few months before AAPL decides to shut down Rosetta.

Very willing to be wrong.......again.

I understand how hard it is for a small company with an aged code base to migrate to a new approach. My suspicion is it will never happen because the code base and compiler are so ancient. At some point, Apple will stop supporting Rosetta and then what?

"You don't need that."
this was the same statement when Win users kept asking for a 64bit version of Biab, "JBridge is just fine", it was argued so hard by PG for years.....until Apple banned 32bit apps, only then did PG create a 64bit Biab.
I have been trying hard to get PG to move the generate code to the C++ JUCE Biab VST plug-in to give a full crossplatform for Mac at the same time as Win. It's a shame that PG have to spend 6 months on Win then another 6 months on Mac to code the same thing. With the JUCE Plug-in it is ready now for Win and Mac as being JUCE it can be compiled to and OS standalone or Plug-in, this means there could be and iPad version. But the wait will be the backend bbw4.app that has to wait 6 months. Using JUCE will give better UI and things will be implemented easier.
I think every other company has a Win/Mac and even Linux version released at the same time !
If something unforeseen happens, do we then panic and run to transfer to a true crossplatform programing ?
I suppose why do the right thing when it can be put off, stick with 255 bar limit and time signatures that won't match your DAW and have to stay inside Biab to work also.

But why listen to the rantings of a crazy man, the voice of one crying in the wilderness.

Quote
JUCE is a cross platform framework allowing a single codebase to compile to native applications and plug-ins with the same user experience on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, across both desktop and mobile. Native applications can be launched in the iOS and Android device simulators to simplify testing and debugging, and can be packaged up for distribution within the mobile app stores.

JUCE is the most widely used framework for audio application and plug-in development. It is an open source C++ codebase that can be used to create standalone software on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, as well as VST, VST3, AU, AUv3, AAX and LV2 plug-ins.

JUCE allows developers to focus on the most valuable parts of their software by taking care of the differences between operating systems (both desktop and mobile) and plug-in formats. With JUCE’s library of digital audio processing (DSP) building blocks you can quickly prototype and release native applications and plug-ins with a consistent user experience across all supported platforms. Using JUCE also future-proofs your products against operating system and plug-in host updates.

JUCE makes it easy to create both standalone audio applications or plug-ins that can be loaded inside digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Logic, Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio or Cubase. A single JUCE project can be used to create VST, VST3, AU, AUv3, AAX and LV2 plug-ins from the same source code, and also provides the functionality required to host these plug-in formats in your own software.

We're getting off topic. If you want to discuss whether v6 or v7 is better or how much you love JUCE or anything else, start a new thread. This one is specific to the crashes that RayC is having.

This should also be a separate thread, but I'll address it anyway. In the "Send to Reaper" panel, is Use REAPER Instructions" checked? If this is unchecked, then the Generate Type settings under the Generate button will be used.

Can you try the plugin standalone version? If that can't generate anything either, then you have an install issue or your folder locations are incorrect.

I received an email that Moultipass replied, but that reply seems to have been deleted. It seems like his problem has been solved and was an installation issue. As for RayC he hasn't responded in nearly 2 weeks, but I'll leave this thread open in case he comes back.

Yes, absolutely Simon, you put me on the right track with this story of bad installation, whereas my Biab has been in concrete for several years. After a clean and quick reinstallation, the plugin runs like a rocket. No more worries. You were right, hence a big thank you.
Actually, I removed Biab from my C: drive, so everything runs from my new Biab SSD. As a result, everything is grouped for the directories and it works perfectly, I'm not touching anything anymore

Honestly I always suggest running BB and the RealTracks/Drums from the same drive - it's simpler, and avoids future problems (Windows likes to change drive letters at times, for example).

So, in your expert opinion, is installing the content libraries (RealTracks, RealDrums) in a separate drive a nice feature or an user error?

As a feature, it worked in previous versions.

Regarding Biab, I never had any problems with RTs and RDs on a separate drive.
In my case, the issue was with the Plugin, which seemed to be lost (it couldn't generate anything, in both Reaper and Studio One). I admit that I was also using 4 Symlinks for the main folders (Demos, Soloists, Songs and Lessons, and Styles), as I thought it would save time by launching everything from my C: drive.

Since I deleted everything and did a simple installation only on the 2025 SSD, the plugin is working fine. Is it related? Probably.
For everyone whose separate drive is working, don't change anything.

Simon rightly pointed out that working on external drives without explicitly assigning fixed letters could also cause a loss of bearings in Biab, particularly with Symlinks, but I had specifically assigned fixed letters to my drives.

It is a nice feature, and it works as intended - however, as Moultipass found out it does not like working with symlinks, and like I mentioned Windows likes to change drive letter when it feels like it. I typically suggest running everything from one location for that reason, since something simple like plugging in two hard drives in a different order can be enough to change drive letters.
