Old song, lost the original file, but it's all BIAB.

When I saw that you had posted a song

I had to jump right in and listen

They're always so good and I am not disappointed.

A powerful and emotion-filled ballad

the piano is super and the whole mix is excellent to my ear

enjoyed the listen,

Kenny

A beautiful melody that fits comfortably. The lyrics are heart-breaking but have that need-to-be-heard quality about them. Your warm vocals do the trick. Touched my heart.

Beautiful poignant ballad. Lovely vocal and comfortable melody.
A pretty but quite sad song.

A very pleasant song and use of BIAB.
The only nit is some serious essing - probably due to reverb as it often grabs and accentuates those things.

Bob,

This is a wonderful listen.

Like Kenny said, "When I saw that you had posted a song, I had to jump right in and listen". That was exactly how I felt too.

I love the lyrics in your opening verse...

Quote:
You don't miss the water
Till the well runs dry
You don't miss the laughter
Till it's time to cry
You're busy building castles in the sand
The rising tide will never understand

To me, these words are such powerful truths and they caused me to just sit here thinking about and reflecting on life in general. They lead into "Then it's gone..." so well.

Every way I look at it, you really are a very skillful songwriter... you're the whole package, melody, lyrics, vocals, arranger, producer.

As I said at the start, this is a wonderful listen.

All the best,
Noel

Bob, we are all enriched by you posting this poignant song and as Noel pointed out it contains "powerful truths."

We are glad you found it in the archives as it is remarkably good...in all the ways we tend to measure song goodness smile

It is a fine write and vocal and the production sounds superb on our monitors.

Thanks for sharing!

To everyone who took the time to listen and comment; thanks. I know it's a lousy mix, but I couldn't find the original Sonar file to re-do it properly.

Appreciate the listens and comments.

Bob, enjoyed this much.some notes I took while listening:
Really like how you started the lyric with the Repeated examples ..water, laughter...very effective way to start to sink in the story idea.
Effective use of strings without overwhelming..they can get in the way if overdone.
Inter-verse space without solos..it’s tempting to slap some type of instrumental ornament in there, but I like how you kept it pristine, better for this songs message.
Epitaph..++ for using this word!
I loved the Steady pace of the entire piece, supported by the piano arpeggio element.
Great track!
