Mystery Vibes on Soundcloud
Mystery Vibes on YouTube

This song was created from the name of the Style, Noir Mystery Vibes. The band is one I'd send to audition is one of Mike's Cuban Pete Clubs –with a better singer of course. Since I no longer own an upright bass, the more-than-capable BiaB bassist took the gig.

Style is _NOIR.STY (Noir Mystery Vibes)

Mystery Vibes

Something in her smile sends a mystery vibe
that makes me feel alive, and I want more.
She turns and looks my way. Her smile melts my heart.
Then suddenly she starts for the door.
When I arise to follow she slowly glances back.
But how should I react to mystery vibes?

I'm taken by her smile and those mystery vibes.
The thrill of her resides in my desire.
She left with such allure. I saw she left a note.
I quickly grabbed my coat. My heart on fire.
Her chauffered car was waiting, the back door opened wide.
But nothing sat inside but mystery vibes.

I went back every night, but she never did return.
Yet still the fire burns and not subsides.
She lingers in the air there, yet everyone derides.
She left me all alone with mystery vibes.

Marty,
This is particularly impressive, especially with the alternative rhyming lyrics, each line very cleverly delivered.

A great mix too with nice balance between instruments and vocals.

Well done.

Marty,

Love the jazzy feel of this one. You sing it so well!

The production is great - the clean mix compliments the arrangement perfectly.

Much enjoyed!

Marty, this was quite unexpected and serves as a reminder of high level of musicianship. The lyrics are very impressive with the great rhyme scheme and delivered with a fine vocal. Well done amigo, Tom

Super vocal and lyrics.
Great mix.
I really liked those vibes!

Marty, spent over 20 years playing jazz (and only jazz) very badly. I might have kept it up if I did it this well. Ha! Everything sounds great. This style really suits you, keep it up!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Marty,

Nice throwback crooner tune, and a change up from you that hits the strike zone completely. You do the vocal well . . . your tone fits is just right, in my opinion. Really could be something right out of the 30’s or 40’s. The production elements all sound good to me. Really quite well done. Love the Vibes soloist—it gives the tune a great . . . err . . . vibe? Good stuff!

Best regards,

Deej

Thanks, Bob Dean. Ok, I'm gonna cut out that Bob Dean crap. David Snyder's song has got me hooked.

Thanks, Tom. Hey, I was thinking of ya yesterday as I wrote a song about vanlifers called See You Down The Road. Look for it at supermarket counters by Christmas.

The new master of the 7th.
I delayed listening to this...wondering how long I could pass it by...experiments in delayed gratification.
Cool arrangement around a very nice set of chords.
I do miss your bass playing on this but BIAB does a fine job.
The vibes are excellent - both the feel & the instrument.
I love the MJQ becasue of the vibes.
More Marty made magic.

Cheers

Thanks, Mario. I'd love to hear Charlie Parker wail on it.

Thanks, DC Ron. Yeah, I love playng walking lines. Always wanted to find a guitarist who would play BeBop songs. Still, this song needs an upright bass, which I no longer own, and BiaB has a bunch of good ones.

Smooth! Swings are right in our wheelhouse and this is a nice one.

Great band and the vibes were perfecto.
That walking bass definitely got Bud's attention smile
Excellent vocal and mix.

The solo scene reminded us of your photos.
The Mona Lisa set it all up so well and that heart shape fire ring was very effective.

Babu Music is on a roll!

Hi Marty.

This is my kind of music. I love the laid-back, swing-jazz feel of the late-1940s and early-1950s. This fits into that genre really nicely.
There is lots of musicianship evident in all aspects of this composition. It's a credit to your skills.
You're a talented man!

All the best,
--Noel

Marty,

Your new genre! You are now a bluesy jazzman! Your vocal fits in here like a glove and man you did a super job with this! The tune is a pleasure to listen to. You will have to do more songs in this style in the future!
I have a feeling that you got a kick out of doing this one!

Thanks, T

Thanks, David. BiaB had a great background vibe player, but I had to bring in the big gun for the solo.

Hi, Ray. Even a couple 2s and 9s mixed in (9-2=7). Do you have an upright bass? I could use you (in a good way). smile You're right about MJQ, especially MIlt Jackson. He had a more looser, jazzier and bluesy feel than Lionel Hampton.

S-l-o-w jazz...so cool...your eclectic side is showing again Marty...at first I was wondering, "who is this guy singing?'...the range, texture and softness of the vox threw me for a second...this is super!...I hope this will be on your album...its uniqueness is a great chance to show off your versatility...hey give us some bluegrass next time round!
