It's Me on Soundcloud
It's Me on YouTube

This one started out with a title (and I have all the lyrics for) “I See You In The ICU, You Icy Ewe.” Ah, it just didn't fit with the feel so... Well, now it's not the ICU, but It's Me with new lyrics. The first two lines are from the other version, and take on a whole different meaning in this one. I'm pretty apathetic as to what genre any of my songs fit into, but this one is kinda like a Broadway Blues if there is such a thing. This is about me explaining to my wife of 45 years that the Prince Charming she always hoped for, longed for, and lamented over never finding, might just be me. This one is Song #5 on my album being released on the 14th, Valentine's Day. Deej, let me know if 5 is the right slot. hehe

There is another baseball reference in the lyrics. Anyone catch it? hehe

Key=F , Tempo 70, Length (m:s)=4:06
12 bar intro, 56 bar chorus, from bar 13 to bar 68. Repeat x1 chorus

Style is _GUMBO.STY (Gumbo NOLA 12-8 Gospel)

RealTracks in style: ~569:Guitar, Resophonic, Rhythm Blues Delta Sw 065
RealTracks in song: ~~939:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzBalladFreeComp Sw 060
RealTracks in song: 3783:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm NewOrleansGospel128 Sw 065
RealDrums in style:Nashville128^08-a:Snare, Hihat , b:Snare, Ride

Dave Bell of Blue Attitude played guitar and I played bass and sang.

It's Me

You know I wondered when I'd see you,
if you'd even notice and see me too.
Our busy lives can control so much.
I long for your loving touch.
We'll meet for supper and sip on wine.
We'll smile and soak in all the best of Time.
Let's slow the world down to a loving crawl,
and what the world gives us --we'll take it all.

CH: It's me who loves you and (makes it all alright) (stands right by your side.)
It's me who holds you through each night.
We fit so well together, it's plain to see,
if you know what's good for you, it's me.

I know you wonder if I'm the one.
We have fond memories of so much fun.
Don't turn away from this good life we made.
Turn back to me for the win and save.

Let's sit here under this old willow tree.
We'll let the world spin away, and we'll stay free.
It's you and me now, girl, if you give the word.
We can rule the world. Or haven't you heard?

Enjoy whatever happens!

Marty...45 years is a GOOD long time...it sounds like you're still sweet on this gal...once again you prove to all of us how great a writer and composer you are...Dave's guitar work is a trademark of excellence in your productions...sometimes I don't pay attention to your bass work because it's so seamless and smooth but on my second listen I listened to the bass line and it IS seamless and smooth...your lyrics are never forced and fit your melody like a glove! #5 is alive! Great job my friend!

Way to go Marty and Mrs. Babu! 45 years, man, that's fantastic. You're a lucky guy, not very many seem to make it that long anymore. I have to agree with Dan's words about your Bass playing - I often fall into the same trap. I sure liked your writing in this one - and thought that cord progression in the chorus was superb.

How sweet of you to write your wife a love song after 45 years.
That's what I call love. Even though it took you a little long to write the song.

It's always a win when you and Dave work together, perfect combination of guitar and bass.
You two should start a band wink

Very nice, Marty. Great feel, with a lovely chord progression and Dave's solo is excellent, as always. A very charming love song. (I don't know the first thing about baseball but I guess it somehow involves a win and a save smile

Pleasant song!

This is about me explaining to my wife of 45 years that the Prince Charming she
always hoped for, longed for, and lamented over never finding, might just be me.

Good luck with that! If after 45 years she hasn't been convinced... wink

Enjoyed this listen - well done.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Marty,

Did your wife cook you a delicious dinner after hearing your beautiful song? Or were the (yours or hers) bags packed because she finally met Prince Charming after all these years?
No, this is a nasty joke that a Dutchman has to make when hearing these kinds of love stories. We are used to that ourselves...

As I said it's a catchy song with, of course, a very good solo from Dave.
Your vocals sound nice and more bright then before. And you sing very seriously! But 45 years of marriage is a very serious matter! So far I come to 39 years, but with one difference; she found her prince for our marriage ;-)
How nice you have planned to release an album on the 14th. This song fits perfectly with that day!!!
I bet you still have a lot of work to finnish your album in time.

Good luck with it, Marty!

Cool lyric Marty. Excellent vocal and backtrack as well. Daves guitar lines were perfect for the tune. Well done

Thanks, Dan. Yeah, still sweet --actually sweeter. Yes, I feel my productions are nothing without Dave in there. Thanks also for the nod on the bass.

Kindred spirits we are Marty.
last week was my message to the wife & now here's yours.
I like the way this lops along & broadway Blues is as good a toe tag as any.
Great bottom end from you, Dave's icing is well set.
I hope you get a response from the missus, mine didn't say a word.
Top shelf shuffle.

Cheers

Haha, thanks, BD. Surely wasn't my first write to her, and hopefully not the last. Love that idea of starting a band with my favorite guitarist. Heck, I'd just like to meet him in person. smile

Thanks, Leon. Well, you have a Sherlock Holmes sense of deduction. I figured the "win" would be an easy clue, but the save is a bit more complex. Thanks for the listen and the comment. Much appreciated.

I like this. Kind of a bluesy thing. Mix sounds good. Guitar sounds good.

Lovely romantic tune for sweethearts with lots of honest confidence smile The band works very well, but what else would you expect to hear when Dave's guitar and Marty's bass shine together.
Nice video, I like the jigsaw pieces as the symbol for fitting together smile

Nice one Marty. Or is it Deej again?
Now I'll have to write one to mine of over 50 years although already did one for our 40th.
I don't want her getting to complacent :-).

Marty,

Very nice song!
Your appeal to your partner is wonderful.
It's very good to be positive.
Dave's guitar and your bass shine together.
Even if someone asks me what genre this song is, I can't answer either.
Some music needs a genre, but this song doesn't.
This song goes straight to our hearts.
Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.

Best regards.

Marty and Dave create another masterpiece!
Outstanding vocal, lyrics, lead guitar, and mix.
I always try to concentrate on your bass and Dave's guitar. You both are so good it is scary.
Loved this one.

Marty,

First off, terrific write . . . and every other aspect is top notch . . . vocal, Dave’s killer guitar work (really, the solo is terrific), and the overall production. Really sweet sentiment perfectly delivered. Yes, this would sit quite nice in the five hole. Like the baseball reference — clever. It’s gonna be a good album, Marty. You have some great songs going on it.

Hope all is well in your world,

Deej
