WHATEVER YOU WANT - Take down the Moon

https://www.reverbnation.com/kaynemusic/song/34106869-whatever-you-want

This is my salute to Motown. I tried (the best I could) to get a Temptations, or Spinners sound.

This is my first song using CUBASE 12. Most of backing tracks are BIAB, I then imported into CUBASE and added Strings, Horns, Vocals, etc.

Some of the backing vocals are Synth V, with me in there also to fill out the backing sounds.

Whatever you want Whatever I can do
I would take down the moon the stars if I could
Whatever you want Whatever I can do
Give you the world because of you girl

You give to me life You give your heart to me
You gave me hope
(1.A reason to believe)
(2.You’re everything I need)
You bring me joy you bring it all to me
You give me love, life and all that I have

Woo Wooo Woo Woo Woo Woo
All that I have is because of you
Woo woo woo woo woo woo
You give me hope and Life (and Love)

I would give you my heart, give you my soul
give all my love give you my life
Take down the moon, give you the stars
Whatever you want

Yep, I prefer your vocals, Elliott. Love the Jamerson Motown sound (always gotta nod to the bassist). Man, those BGVs sound perfect. The line "You give me life..." really comes alive with the rise in the music. Very well done. The cover photos is also perfect. Love the way this song builds. Such a good good song, and everything you added to it fits so well.

Enjoy whatever happens!

The backing tracks, your lead vocal and the write definitely grabbed that Motown vibe.
Something we've listened to for years.

Nice BiaB session folks and those drums sound excellent.

We enjoyed it!

J&B

PS: BGV's ... we feel like you could easily do them. Put a little formant change, etc., on each part and go all Elliot!l And a big ole FWIW and boatloads of salt smile

Elliott, you nailed the Motown vibe.

Great vocal and a very Motown like rhythm section and backup vocal.

This is fantastic!

You've got the Motown sound down pat, including the vocal. BGVs raise the level on this, especially at in the last part. All is balanced well in the mix.

You had me singing the Status Quo song in my head before I hit play.
Your voice is a bit strident in the "You give me..." section - that or it's clipping.
You've a cool groove going.

Cheers

Motown was one of the three main genres surrounding me growing up in suburban Detroit in the late 60's and 70's so it's awesome to hear a 'revival' of that vibe. Well done, Elliot! Love the sax break and the backing vocals to your lead vox. Great mix!

Hi Elliott.
Not my genre but it's a great sound and a pro job.
Those backing tracks and the main vocal are superb.
Straight to the point lyrics.

My favourite line: "Woo Wooo Woo Woo Woo Woo". grin

Pleasant listen!

Nice write, and it's got that classic vibe. Sweet lyric.

The tambourine comes in at the right time, and the harmonies are cool, too. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I'm a big fan of that early Motown sound, and you nailed the vibe with this one I think, Elliot.

Great track, great vocal too, well done.

Radio Groove used to be my favorite radio station here while running and this song would be a perfect choice for their play list. Very smooth and pleasant band for the positive vibes of the message. I really like that groove guitar, the sax works perfectly and strings and horns add nice layers to the BIAB orchestra. Great vocals and the backing vocals sound really sweet.

Motown and 60's soul is cool stuff. This is well done.

Everything is in it's proper place. What's not to like about that?
