Pineapples And CoconutsI'm trying like heck to visit ya'll's fabulous music as often as I can. Free time is a rarer treat for me these days. I recently threw this together. It's pretty much a mash-up of Traditional Island sounds, Ska, Rumba, Reggae, and Samba. It took a while to piece all that together {off and on for four days - a fairly long time for me). The song has what I like to call an indigenous "relaxed energy". I tried to capture the exotic culture of the islands, the carefree ambience, plus the excitement of the numerous fiestas and carnivals. The three different drums tracks, used in various combinations at various times, and the organ were my main tools in that effort. The nylon acoustic's track drops back a little bit in a few places - not exceptionally uncommon for this track. I compressed it as much as I could in Audacity without diminishing the quality of the track. I kept the basics of the style but changed out the original drums and added a lead guitar. I wrote a new chord progression and played around with it from that point. Oh yeah, we felt as thought we were viewing an island from a moving aerial clip.
You captured the vibe extremely well and that rumba bass really carries the rhythm.
We used a rumba blues bass recently and liked it also.
We enjoyed the solo and the levels sounded fine to us as did the entire mix.

Yes a very relaxed piece of music that did capture all that you said. Super instrumentation and mix. To nitpick the only things missing where a fruity rum drink in my hand and some steel drums  . I loved it as it is - great work.
My dad showed me a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation of why one should always wear a condom during sex. They were all pictures of me!

Hello Folks ... Interesting you mention the feel of an aerial clip over the islands. That's *EXACTLY* what I was envisioning as this was coming together.
