Hey guys...I'm closing up an album of remixes of some of my older songs...this is one I've always liked...it's very simple in form and fashion...the verses only have one chord to them with no changes...it's an 'A' chord repeated for 36 bars of the song...now that sounds intriguing (right?) a simple song with a simple message (my favorite kind)...so...if you do...thanks so much for listening...I always appreciate your thoughts and comments...Dan

Even though I personally prefer 'D' chords (hehehe), I like your song, it's beautiful, tastefully arranged, well mixed and of course your great vocals.

The only thing that struck me as a problem is the use of A for a, (Ayyyh for uh), in the verses - it doesn't sound natural...I know most in the USA use A a lot and in Australia it has really crept in, (cultural imperialism), but it's mostly when reading text out loud - in this instance it sounds a little formal &/or insincere.
Noting wrong with pedalling on a good chord.

Ray...thanks for your comments...as a past English teacher my understanding of the (a or uh) controversy has to do with the stress you want to put on the word following the article...though I think I did it unconsciously I did want to stress the words "song, truth, melody, joy, faith, love" so in common American vernacular the long 'A' would be a correct way to express the stress I wanted on the object of the article...I'm certainly not trying to sound formal in fact I was trying to sound very sincere...then again I haven't taught Language Arts in school for thirty some years...and I'm honestly not trying to be "culturally imperialistic" but we do have to realize that language in any culture is a fluid medium and changes constantly with the culture...much to my chagrin (and yours it seems) smile cheers mate!...Dan

B.D...I appreciate your preference for the 'D' chord....there's no hard feelings from the 'A' crowd...also I appreciate your comments about the song though I'm still bothered a bit about that 'D' thing...I'll get over it...maybe smile

Your excellent vocal was framed perfectly with the acoustic. Really well done.

Man, you slay me with those vocals, just so beautiful! And the production was austere but perfect. Great work as always.

Wait. Changes? Simple song with a strong message and a wonderful sing-along melody. You always bring a very talented choir, Dan. This is just a terrific song from the first A to the las, and that strumming guitar really helps frame the vocal, like Mario mentioned.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Very pretty song!

Initially our ears were anticipating some chord changes in the verse but by the second verse we were getting accustomed to the sound. Hey, we listen to blues a lot and John Lee Hooker would perform an entire song in one chord. smile

Great vocals, arrangement and mix.
Sounds fine on our monitors.

Good band and a straightforward sweet message. The solo was good and we liked the ooh’s and the hand claps.
Nothing to add or take away from our listens.

Good one!

Marty...thanks so much for your kind comments...next challenge a 'one note' verse smile Dan

With some of your previous posts, it's become obvious that you know your way around a chord chart. It takes a wise musician to know when less is more, and you sure hit the mark here. I loved the simplicity in both the melody and the arrangements. There is some good writing in there too. I really liked the lines "He's like a breath of spring when the winter's been too long" and that hook of "So I'll be the voice of praise and He'll be the song." Your stuff never disappoints Dan.

Hi Dan ...

Well everyone else has already said what I was thinking as I listened. Your voice just slays nme ... in the best of ways. You have a gentle but strong voice with just enough natural vibrato to seal the deal.

It's an excellent song that I enjoyed listening to very much. As several have said or alluded to ... you never disasppoint. Always happy to hear a song from you.

Alan

Holding chord for the verse just makes the chorus that much sweeter.

No complaints here!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Absolutely beautiful vocal.

One one chord verse works well. And it makes the chorus even more satisfying.

Lush harmonies.

A sure fire CC hit!
