WHY DO YOU STILL LOVE ME

A little change of pace for me here. I guess this is a Rock/Blues/Adult Contemporary sort of thing. This one took a lot of concentrated effort to get all the fingerpicking parts right. I only used the drums from the program and for better or worse played everything else. I just couldn't find the right realtracks to make it happen, so I had to go to work! Thanks for listening! It's always appreciated!

BIAB
Drums - Modern Pop Ballad 16th's

Me
Vocals
Guitars- Taylor 812ce Acoustic and Taylor T5 for the fingerpicked parts. Fender Telecaster for the leads all ran through a Headrush Gigboard
Electric Piano, Synths, Cello and Strings all played on a Yamaha keyboard.
Bass - A very old Peavey Foundation that still sounds good

WHY DO YOU STILL LOVE ME
Words and music by Torrey Bliss
Copyright 2021

My conscience torn
It torments me
For the way I've treated you
But still you're there
You forgive me
We're starting over
All things are new

You looked beyond my failures
And saw just what I need
Your life for mine
Oh Lord why do you still love me

I stand amazed
That you call me friend
Even when I feel that I'm no good
You proved your love for me hanging on that cross
As the blood flowed down your side
If I'd only been there
I'd see real love in your eyes

You looked beyond my failures
And saw just what I need
Your life for mine
Oh Lord why do you still love me

You shined your light
To the depths of my soul
Exposing things I thought I'd hid
Far away from you
You picked me up
And set me on my feet again
That's why I'll trust you Lord til the end

You looked beyond my failures
And saw just what I need
Your life for mine
Oh Lord why do you still love me

Torrey,

This is Top-Of-Your-Game stuff! Absolutely the best...

Aside from the excellent vocal, musicianship, lyric and arrangement, this is one of the best mixes I have heard on the forum. Pro all the way.

Loved everything about it!

Hi Torrey.
Absolutely fantastic song.
So many little details. It's really fun to listen to.
Good thing BiaB didn't have any matching realtracks for you ;-)))
Just a pity that the guitar solo is so short ;-(
For me one of the best songs here in the forum.
Many greetings
Andi

Very captivating intro, verses are especially exciting both melodically and musically. Nice guitar arpeggios and the bass sounds very good. I enjoyed the chord progression which varies nicely between pop and fusion jazz.
Great soloing. The vocals express the torment and the amazement in the lyrics powerfully.

Hello Torrey,

As I told you before, your songs are very good, with strong choruses and lovely to listen to.
I have one 'but'; When your song started you builded up a very nice tension with the guitar.
So I expected 'an explosion' in your chorus. And it looked that way, but then you went down with your vocals.
That was a bit a pity for me, expecting that tsunami of sound.
I realized you could't do that in this song because of the message in your lyrics.
But it was you that gave me that expectation. You talked about a song in the Rock/Blues category.

Nevertheless it is a very nice song!
Hans

Torrey,

Excellent from every angle.

A good write. Killer tracks. The subtle guitar rhythm tracks are perfectly done.
Those drums sound Great!! How did you process them? plug-ins?

Gorgeous vocals and BGVs.

And a gorgeous mix. Sweet guitar fills and leads!

How did you record the Peavey bass??? And how did you process that? (I have the same bass, I think. I've never considered trying to use it, but you've opened my eyes to the possibility...)

Torrey, you are one very talented multi-instrumentalist! (I'm glad that you couldn't find any fitting RTs - you should play more often).

IMHO this is your best to date. Everything here is at a pro level.

Loved it.

Wow, I'm blown away that you played all the instruments except for the drums (good drummer by the way). The sound is so smooth and well mixed. Bravo. Nice song. Your vocals are smooth too. You remind me of Toto a little bit.

Good work.

Modern sound. I've often echoed the sentiment of the song in my thoughts (I imagine many have), but you actually articulate it in a contemporary, modern, effective guise. I love it.

And your playing: top, top notch. Effort put it or not, to get to this stage: the end result sounds effortless and phenomenal - that's what matters, right?

A serious bravo for your achievement ... genuinely love it and appreciate it.

Thanks Andi for taking time to listen and comment! I always like to try and keep my tunes under 4 minutes because I feel people just don't have the patience or attention span to endure long songs! That obviously doesn't apply to everyone but probably most listeners. Just my preference though and I didn't feel extending the song for the solo was worth it. Thanks, I appreciate it! T
