Just playing around with recording direct using the Spark amp. So this is instrumental.... no vox. In addition, I got a pickup for my Taylor acoustic and wanted to try it using the spark with a clean setting. The electric is my Modern Tele I think mostly on the strat (middle) PU.

The style is Rock Ballad from BB. I'm using the drums, bass, and a steel in the style. I could look them up if you really need to know.

There's 2 strummed acoustics panned opposite..... and a lead acoustic using the Acoustic Clean model....

Electric is using the American High Gain and Something that was British modeling a Marshall.....

Living in a Dream

Thoughts are appreciated.

Hello Herb
A very nice instrumental song
The melody is just perfect for solo guitars
Your guitar solos are really great
The sound of your Taylor in conjunction with the Spark amp I personally do not like quite so well.
The sound is not as clear as I would expect from an acoustic guitar.
But that is of course a matter of taste ;-)
Your Strat rocks the song totally though
Really great played, Herb
Both thumbs up
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Great playing on the acoustic, lots of nice slides and pull-offs. Electric was nice, too. Good stuff.

Very Nice. Maybe wait four bars before the solo started.
No big deal. Well done. Rob4580

Nice. I particularly liked the little riff around the 1.10 mark. Well done.

Spark sounds good, Herb, especially for the electric. Good tone, just the right amount of dirt.

Great playing too of course wink

Thanks for the comments to this point. My takeaway so far is the electric tone is good, which I kinda figured it was....and I have a lot more options to play with.... However, the acoustic guitar tone needs more work for that true acoustic guitar sound. I also kinda figured that would be the case since its rare that a pickup is going to replicate the actual tone of the guitar..... So while acceptable, there's still more to do with the acoustic.

Thanks for listening and commenting

Herb,

A really nice instrumental.

Nicely played throughout. Both the acoustic and the electric. Very melodic. Nice.

The electric tone is excellent. Excellent technique.

You have already decided it seems, that the acoustic sound is less than great.
It has that acoustic-through-a-pickup sound.
It would be great if you could find a way to get a true acoustic sound without having to record using mics (and preferably a stereo pair). I'm not sure that is possible. I don't recall ever hearing a plugged in acoustic that did not sound "plugged in". But, still, I hope you can find it (and let the rest of us in on the secret...)

Good music.

Floyd.... One individual in another group commented that I should try using a stereo setup with the pick-up in one channel and a condenser mic on the other side and combine them. With my interface and Sonar, i can assign the two inputs each to it's own individual track for better after the fact processing.

I'll try that and see what happens. I'll keep you and everyone else here posted on the results.

This is great. Both guitars sound superb. You let your playing do the talking without being ostentatious. Bery enjoyable. I had to listen to this more than once.

Great chops Herb! Super mix also.

You may want to look at ReGuitar:

https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_ReGuitar/

It will change the sound of your acoustic and make it sound more natural. At least it has here. I have even taken an electric guitar lead and changed it to an acoustic.

Great tone on your electric.

Two thumbs up.

The acoustic sounds perfect, and of course your playing really brings out the best of any guitar, so that too sounds REALLY good. Man, that guitar sounds (now put all your fingertips together and kiss them open as you say with a French accent) magnifique.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Nice melodic jam Herb.

Reckon we are the odd ones out as we both like the acoustic.
There is no reason for us that it has to sound exactly like a miked acoustic.

Really nice playing and mix!
